JRB Gateautomation designs, installs and maintains sliding, underground and swing gates, from our base in Sheffield.
New gates, automating the gates you already have, repairs, servicing and access control. Every job is surveyed, priced clearly and fitted by our own team.
We fit complete automatic gate systems, or add motors and controls to gates you already have. If your gates are sound and hang straight, automating them is often the most cost-effective option.
For a new gate, we look at the opening, the slope of the drive, the ground and the power supply, then recommend the right gate and drive for the job.
Book a site visitFrom the first survey to the yearly service, one local team looks after your gate.
The gate runs along the boundary on a track or cantilever. Ideal where there’s no room for a gate to swing, or the drive slopes.
Get a quote →The motor sits in a box below ground, out of sight, so the gates keep a clean look with nothing bolted to the piers.
Get a quote →Single or double gates opening in or out, driven by rams or articulated arms to suit your piers and drive.
Get a quote →Gate stuck, motor dead or not closing properly? We find the fault and fix it, whoever installed the gate.
Book a repair →Regular servicing and safety checks keep your gate reliable and safe around people, children and cars.
Book a service →Intercoms, keypads, remotes, fobs and phone control, set up so the right people get in and everyone else stays out.
Get a quote →Answer three quick questions for a starting point. We’ll confirm the best option on the site visit.
1. Is there room behind the gate for it to swing open?
2. Does the drive slope up from the gate?
3. Would you like the motors hidden out of sight?
Your suggested gate type will appear here as you go.
Every installation is planned as a complete system, not just a gate and a motor.

It depends on the gate type, the width of the opening, the groundwork needed and whether there’s power nearby. Automating an existing gate costs less than a new gate and motor together. After a site visit we give you a written price, so there are no surprises.
Often, yes. If the gates and posts are sound and hang straight, we can fit motors, safety devices and access control to them. We’ll tell you honestly on the visit if they need replacing.
Yes. We work on gates and motors whoever fitted them. Tell us the make if you know it, or send a photo of the motor or control box.
Don’t force it. Most gates have a manual release key so you can open them by hand. Call us, tick “urgent” in the form, and we’ll arrange a visit as quickly as we can.
Automating an existing gate is usually a day or two on site. A new gate with groundwork, posts or a sliding track takes longer. We’ll give you the timings with your quote.
Sometimes. In England, gates over 1 metre high next to a road, or over 2 metres elsewhere, usually need permission, and listed buildings and conservation areas have extra rules. We’ll flag it on the site visit, but your local council has the final say.
Most manufacturers recommend at least once a year, and more often for busy commercial gates. A service checks the motor, safety devices, hinges or track, and the safety settings.
